When Wale signed to Maybach Music, he immediately announced his sophomore album, Ambition, and his third album. Initially, Wale said he would release both albums in 2011. As the Ambition release date loomed, Wale revealed his third album would come in May 2012. But, when May 2012 occurred, Maybach Music held something bigger.
Rick Ross held a press conference for Maybach Music early in May 2012. This press conference included many of hip hop media’s professionals and record executives. The press conference was used to announce the Maybach Music release dates. While the compilation album, Rick Ross’, and Meek Mill’s albums were given 2012 releases, Wale was set for 2013.
Wale was recently in Philadelphia and he ended up talking about his third studio album, which does not yet have a title. Speaking with Hip Hop Since 1987, Wale said it will remind fans of his earlier work with Mark Ronson. Some fans criticized Wale for the sharp turn in his style on his Maybach Music debut.
