A lot of talk has been going on about the West Coast hip hop scene. Game helped to usher in a new era of West Coast hip hop, but Kendrick Lamar is clearly the fixture. There are many other players out West making things look good. Other major names are Casey Veggies, Kid Ink, Dom Kennedy, Iamsu!, and Problem.

Though the mainstream media credits Game and this new generation for a West Coast comeback, those out there often say they never left. When both Xzibit and Young Maylay spoke to Hip Hop Vibe, they hinted at the game leaving the West Coast. With the focus back, the names like Kendrick Lamar and Casey Veggies have taken over.

The biggest names in West Coast hip hop were all on deck for West Coast Fest 2013. Among the figures in attendance were West Coast veterans E-40, DJ Quik, Too $hort, Warren G, Mack 10, Baby Bash, and Krayzie Bone. On the other side, Mann, Clyde Carson, and Problem represented the current generation. Power 106’s Big Boy hosted the event and DJ Dense provided the music and Ray J, Gary Payton, and singer Teairra Mari were also in attendance.
