The premiere of ‘When They See Us’ has everyone, especially the black community, LIVID. The series gives insight to the trial of the Central Park 5, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Korey Wise, and Yusef Salaam. They were a group of boys who were falsely accused of rape. The prosecutor in the trial, Linda Fairstein, knew the boys were innocent, but she didn’t care. DNA evidence didn’t match any of them, but due to their skin color, and Linda wanting political gain, they served between 6 and 13 years in jail.
Linda went on to live her best life as a best-selling author, but those days will soon be coming to an end. Many people are now calling for her books to be pulled from shelves, and for numerous places to rescind awards and honors they have given her.
