White man charged with shooting Black man in San Jose

In San Jose, California, there was an incident that left a man with a serious leg injury. As a result, a man is being charged with felony assault with a semi-automatic firearm resulting in great bodily injury and personal use of a firearm. The situation took place back in October, in an undisclosed situation in North San Jose. On Monday, December 12, 2022, 66-year-old, Mark Waters, will be arraigned.

According to the Deputy District Attorney, a 21-year old Black man was exiting an Airbnb that he rented, and was on his way to the grocery store. As he began his journey, he was confronted by Mark Waters, a 66-year-old White man who lived in the neighborhood. Waters confronted the unarmed man with a black handgun. When the man tried to run for safety, Waters shot him in the leg.

The Black man has remained unnamed, but he was shot one time. Fortunately, for all parties involved, the man’s injuries were not life threatening. However, he has sustained a serious injury to his leg. In addition, the police have obtained footage of the actual shooting. As a result, the District Attorney released a statement saying everybody should be safe going to the grocery store.

There are also reports that a hate crime charge may still be pending.
