While America is the land of the free, the journey has not been perfect. Well over two hundred years into the history of the nation, people definitely understand that freedom does not mean equality. There are systemic disadvantages that keep minorities, primarily Black people from reaching true levels of freedom. In turn, they are unable to have the equality on par with their White counterparts. As a result, there have been pushes for more equality.
Long before the current campaigns for Black inclusion and ownership, there was Affirmative Action. With that law in place, it was a bit easier for Black people to get into college and to get jobs.
