Earlier this week, DeRay McKesson, the Black Lives Matter activist, began trending on Twitter. Turns out, this was due to the new Planet of the Apes movie. He assumed the ape wearing the blue jacket was some kind of parody of him.
Immediately, Twitter began roasting DeRay for these comments, as he was not familiar with the movie. This was something fans on Twitter had a field day with. Ultimately, DeRay ended up being a topic of discussion on “The View,” this afternoon.
Whoopi Goldberg addressed DeRay on “The View,” giving him an epic roasting. After roasting him, Whoopi told DeRay to get over himself, making her a trending topic, herself. In response, DeRay told Whoopi to speak to him directly, in the future, and that he deleted the tweets after educating himself on the film series.
