Will Smith tells the story of how “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” came together, starting with his ex-girlfriend telling him to go on “The Arsenio Hall Show” [VIDEO]

Sometimes, what seems like the worst thing ever can be the biggest blessing life brings. Something most people probably don’t know is that Will Smith used to be known as “The Fresh Prince.” His iconic sitcom, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” capitalized off his rap fame.

However, none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for Smith getting into trouble, with the IRS. The popular rapper went triple platinum and then began spending outrageously. Unfortunately, his next album didn’t do too well, which led to him changing things.

This story has been told often, but Will Smith has never told it. He changed that, today, doing so in the most Will Smith way possible. The popular actor detailed his journey, starting with his ex-girlfriend telling him to do something to get himself going, leading him to go on “The Arsenio Hall Show,” where he met Benny Medina, who introduced him to Quincy Jones, and the rest is history.
