Mixtape stardom led to mainstream stardom, and a model for a girlfriend, for Wiz Khalifa. A native of Pittsburgh, Wiz Khalifa picked up where Asher Roth left off and put the city on the map. Briefly, it looked as if Wiz Khalifa would sign with Rick Ross’ growing Maybach Music, but he turned it down for Atlantic Records.

Wiz Khalifa hit the ground running, coming to the label with the “Black & Yellow” hit single. “Black & Yellow” would not be all Wiz Khalifa had, as he was able to reach a wider audience with “Roll Up.” Along the way, Wiz Khalifa even gained a major co-sign from Snoop Dogg.

Coming into 2012, Wiz Khalifa promised another album. However, Wiz Khalifa had to make an album more true to himself. There were several delays until the December release date was settled upon. With December only days away, Wiz Khalifa held a listening party for O.N.I.F.C. in New York City.
