XXXTentacion Didn’t Know His Vocals For ‘Don’t Cry’ Hook Would Be Used On Lil Wayne’s #ThaCarterV Album

It was rumored that the late XXXTentacion would appear on Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V album and it was a reality as it was the second track on the project and X appeared on the hook. How this collaboration came out is an interesting one though. Prior to his death, X didn’t realize that the vocals would go on to be used for the Don’t Cry record, according to TMZ.

Back in February, X was recording with a producer who goes by Z3n, another Florida native. When they recorded that hook, it stood out the most among them. The complete song was never finished though, just the hook.

In August, Z3n and artist Lunch Money Lewis chopped it up and Z3n played the hook for Lewis. Lewis was impressed and sent it off to Republic Records. Producer Ben Billions then helped added the finishing touches to it.

Z3n is now saying that he didn’t know it would be added to Wayne’s song until a week before Tha Carter V’s release. This collab would have been a huge moment in X’s career if he was still alive as he was heavily influenced by Wayne’s music.
