XXXTentacion reached 10 million Spotify streams in one day with “Sad!,” setting a record on the streamer, posthumously

This week has delivered some of the worst news that hip hop has received in some time. It started with news of XXXTentacion being shot in Miami, later revealed to be Deerfield Beach, and having no pulse. In a few minutes, he was pronounced dead.

What’s being overlooked by the media is that Jimmy Wopo also got killed, this past week, on the same day. With XXXTentacion being the bigger name, he’s getting more attention. Earlier this year, he dropped his ? album and “Sad” was the lead single.

Yesterday was the day after X’s death and Spotify created a playlist in his honor. This angered many, seeing how Spotify removed all of his music, just a week prior. But, with his music being streamed, regardless of playlists, XXXTentacion set a new song record for streams in a day, with “Sad” crossing 10 million streams, yesterday.
