Long before Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T. were signed to major labels, the two rappers had a strong working relationships. Two years ago, both rappers were preparing to launch their careers as major artists. At the time, Big K.R.I.T. had just signed with Def Jam and Yelawolf was meeting with several labels.
Already receiving a number of comparisons to Eminem, due to the sound of his voice, as opposed to race and subject matter, Yelawolf would be signed to his label. As a member of the near-forgotten Shady Records, Yelawolf helped breathe new life into the album. Standing alongside Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf has helped form Shady 2.0.
Both Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T. have helped change the opinions made of hip hop artists from the Deep South. With both rappers now done with their debut albums, they feel the time has come from them to put something out together. Via Twitter, Yelawolf revealed the long-rumored Country Cousins album with Big K.R.I.T. was coming and will be presented by DJ Skee.
