YG unites Compton with historic gang truce and peace walk
On Sunday, YG led a groundbreaking peace walk in Compton, marking the end of a decade-long rivalry between the Treetop Pirus and Fruit Town Pirus gangs. This landmark event, held at Gonzales Park, signifies a historic moment for community healing and unity.
YG, along with gang leaders, The Game, Wallie The Sensei, and hundreds of local residents, initiated the walk to foster solidarity. The peaceful procession through Compton’s streets culminated in a gathering where both gangs officially declared an end to their conflict.
Furthermore, the peace walk coincides with the release of YG’s highly anticipated album, “Just Re’d Up 3.” That project contained 19 songs, including features from Mozzy, Saweetie, Larry June, and more. This event not only highlights YG’s influential role in bridging divides but also showcases his ongoing commitment to social justice and community empowerment. His leadership in this initiative follows his notable 2020 Black rights march, which drew over 50,000 participants.
This significant achievement underscores the power of dialogue and unity, as gang members walked together, symbolizing a new era of peace in a community long plagued by violence. YG’s efforts are a testament to his dedication as a musician and activist, offering hope and a model for other communities striving for change.
