Earlier this week, Arizona teenager, Zakiyyah Elzy was killed in a car accident. A high school student, Elzy was killed alongside three other girls, all cheerleaders. In the wake of Elzy’s injuries, the social media hashtags began, #KiaGang and #YGTOAZ.
Zakiyyah Elzy was a big fan of YG, the popular Los Angeles rapper. Her fans began the campaign to get YG to come, because it made her friends feel as if they fulfilled one of her wishes. Yesterday, YG finally made the move to go to Arizona.
YG visited the memorial, the family, and the friends of Zakiyyah Elzy. In response to it, YG said he was there for Kia and that he saw an angel when he saw her picture, also being told by her mom that she intended to go to UCLA. Meanwhile, it was a local radio station that helped Elzy’s favorite rapper come visit her in the wake of her death and a GoFundMe account was set up to help the family with expenses.
