YNW Melly Denied Request To Leave Jail and To Be on House Arrest After Being Tested Positive For COVID-19

Contracting the coronavirus (COVID-19) has been a huge concern in prisons all around the country as it was enough to get Tekashi 6ix9ine released and allowed to serve the rest of his four months on house arrest. This didn’t work out in R. Kelly’s favor and now, YNW Melly got denied this request as well, according to TMZ.

Earlier this month, Melly revealed that he tested positive for the virus. His lawyer, Bradford Cohen filed a motion for his release so he could be treated at a proper facility and be on house arrest. Legal documents state that a judge denied this request as he will wait to stand trial for his double murder case.

Melly has been feeling the symptoms of the virus such as chills, labored breathing, headaches and body aches. The rising Florida rapper added that he hasn’t been able to receive proper medical treatment at the Broward County Jail. The judge is now saying that if he needs this medical assistance, it can be requested to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

One factor that may have played a role in Melly’s request being denied is that the victims of the two people he shot and killed wanting him to be released. Melly and a friend reportedly killed them in a drive-by shooting, put their bodies in the trunk of his car, and drove around with them. He’s been in jail for over a year now.
