Hip hop is all about people being themselves no matter what, but this year that has proven to be difficult. All the biggest rappers in the game have come under fire for one thing or another just for being themselves. There were a few instances where people needed to be checked and then there is Yo Gotti and New Era.
Doing his thing on the mixtape scene for years, Yo Gotti recently closed a lucrative record deal with L.A. Reid for Epic Records. Now, his mixtape platform and his roster of artists have a real record label to release their music. Yo Gotti is one of the hottest “new” rappers in the game and New Era recently did business with him.
During a photo shoot with New Era, Yo Gotti is accused of stretching the hats to the point where only his head would fit them. New Era says Yo Gotti refused to pay for these hats after doing damage to the headgear, thus grounds to sue. In defense, Yo Gotti said his only crime was his head shape.
Read the statements below:
New Era: “I refuse to believe his head was the only thing placed inside of these hats” Said New Era rep Ryan Brinkley in his argument who claims they do not believe that only a head was placed inside their merchandise, but instead Yo Gotti purposely stretched their hats out during the photo shoot to the point where they’re not salable or able to be reused by other New Era celebrity clients.
Yo Gotti: “The only thing I’m guilty of is being born with this damn head.”
