Until this year, most of Yo Gotti’s fans had known him from his underground releases. With the exception of a select few, no other rapper utilized the mixtape scene the way Yo Gotti did. Dropping mixtapes for over a decade led to Yo Gotti being booked for the top shows and working with the biggest rappers.
By the time Yo Gotti entertained offers from major labels, he was able to come in as a partner instead of an artist. L.A. Reid believed in Yo Gotti enough to sign him to a multimillion dollar deal and it has yielded positive results. This year, Yo Gotti released his I Am album and did his “Fuck You” single with Meek Mill.
Mikey T The Movie Star recently had the chance to talk to Yo Gotti and they spoke on some of these topics. He explained his I Am album and why it came together the way that it did. Yo Gotti also discussed the controversy surrounding the track he and Meek Mill did, which is called “Fuck You.”
