There has been a lot of talk surrounding the new energy coming from Chicago. A number of new artists have emerged. Among the new names are Paypa, L.E.P. Bogus Boys, and Chief Keef. While many newcomers are emerging, veterans such as Common and Twista have continued to release new music. Meanwhile, Chicago’s hero, Kanye West, is returning to dominate the game and former DTP rapstress, Shawnna, is making her comeback.

Young Chop, though he has not received the same media attention as the above mentioned emcees, is also playing a big role in Chicago’s comeback. Behind the scenes, Young Chop has produced many of these new hits. Because of the popularity of Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like,” many try to only associate Young Chop with that one song. In actuality, Young Chop has much more in the works, also producing for Shawnna.

Despite not being an emcee, Young Chop has made news for battling with G.O.O.D. Music. He first called Kanye West out about the remix of “I Don’t Like,” which featured Pusha T, Big Sean, and Jadakiss, along with Kanye West and the original hook by Chief Keef. Things appeared to have been settled almost immediately. However, Pusha T sent jabs at Young Chop on his “Exodus 23:1” single, leading to Young Chop siding with Lil Wayne in his feud with the rapper. During his interview with BET, Chop said everything that happened is in the past.

Young Chop will be back on BET today, on “106 & Park’s” Freestyle Friday segment, likely as a judge.
