Young Dolph opens up on turning down $22 million record deal, shooting, and “Role Model” on Hot 97 [VIDEO]

Over the past few years, Memphis has had a hip hop comeback, with new faces representing the city. Emerging as one of the leaders of this new school is Young Dolph, who has been on a roll. Going completely independent, Dolph turned down a $22 million deal for his album.

Young Dolph has his Role Model album out and it was definitely a memorable project. The album was filled with both hits and street anthems. Before the album, Young Dolph had controversy going on with some shootings.

Recently, Young Dolph stopped by Hot 97, speaking with Ebro’s crew, which is Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg. The conversation began with Dolph explaining why he turned down a $22 million deal, before he discussed the shooting. Of course, the album at the center of it all, Role Model, was also discussed.
