In 2014, after a year or so of consistently releasing music on the mixtape level, Young Thug gained fame. His songs really started moving during the second half of 2012. By early 2014, “Stoner” was a radio rotation hit.
Since then, Young Thug has remained a fixture in the game, simply due to his consistency. He built a strong relationship with Cash Money and even went toe-to-toe with Lil Wayne. Actually, what happened with those guys is still up for debate.
But, Young Thug has carved out a unique position for himself and has helped bring this faction of hip hop to prominence. He mixed the auto-tune, Southern trap, and weirdo rap, and it has worked, inspiring many others. Yesterday, Thugger announced he had a singing EP dropping that Drake would be involved in.
