Zaytoven Says Jeezy Wanted to Buy “Icy” Single Off of Him, But Zaytoven Stayed Loyal to Gucci Mane, So He Gave The Song to Gucci Instead [VIDEO]

Many remember the infamous Jeezy and Gucci Mane feud that began back in 2005. The two Atlanta rappers had a massive hit together, with “Icy.” The two then began to go at it, over ownership of the record. It went on to be placed on Gucci’s debut studio album, “Trap House.”

Things escalated to the point where Jeezy’s crew tried to set up and kill Gucci. That incident resulted in Gucci shooting one of Jeezy’s friends, and burying him near a school. In November 2020 though, Gucci and Jeezy finally put their beef to rest, during their Verzuz battle. Last month, the two even went on the Legendz of The Streetz Tour together.

Zaytoven was the producer of Icy, and is now one of the biggest producers in hip-hop history. In a new interview with VladTV, Zay discussed So Icy being out at the time, in 2005. He revealed that Jeezy initially wanted to buy the song off of him, and put it on his debut studio album, “Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101.” That was the number two album on the Billboard 200 chart.

Zaytoven went on to explain how he didn’t sell So Icy to Jeezy, out of respect for loyalty to Gucci. He reflected on how he and Gucci worked together a lot, since 2001, well before Icy even blew up.

“Well, you gotta think, Gucci, this is my guy,” Zaytoven explained. “This is the guy that comes to my house, 7:30 in the morning every day. We working on music with each other every day, we going to the club every day. Nobody can come in and have me betray Gucci just because they got a bigger name, or who they are. To be honest with you, I was a fan of Gucci more than I was a fan of anybody, so I was gonna rock with him regardless.”
