On The Rise: Zulu God

By Chox-Mak
Hip-HopVibe.com Staff Writer

Shoot, right now, Miami looks like they have the game on lock. It’s almost just like how it was for Miami, back in 2007. That was back when DJ Khaled put his mark on the game and helped usher in the current era of music.

Now that Khaled is out here doing records with Bieber and Jay Z, a new era has taken Miami over. Silently, they’ve begun also taking music over, just like the ones before them. Caught in this wave is Zulu God, who has lived in a few other cities.

Zulu God took part in Hip-HopVibe.com’s promotion with ReverbNation, which started last month. Now, Zulu God is the latest rapper for the On The Rise segment. Still coming up, Zulu God shares a unique story with the readers.

Read the entire interview below:

Can you tell us how long you’ve been making music? I’ve been doing music for 10 years, since I was 15, I’m 25 now.

What song was it that helped you build your current buzz?

Listening to Money Man on his rise while he was still a underground artist motivated me in ways I could not explain especially the song #BossUp

You recently dropped Da Black Gatsby, can you tell us more about that project? Growing up, my family moved around and in every city from Boston to Brooklyn, Miami, Orlando. I would throw the best house parties, real boujee, wild, lavish sh-t.

I’d always show up late to majority of my parties & it came to a point they started getting so crazy and crowded I stopped showing up to some of them. My favorite book is The Great Gatsby so I figured what better name for my 1st project. I’m an artist and I was just trying to keep away from crazy ex girlfriends and situations at the time I was lost & heartless preparing for this moment being black.

Who are some of the artists who influenced you? Influenced by Wu Tang Clan, Future, 2Pac Biggie Smalls, Jay Z, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Money Man, Gucci Mane, and Travis Scott.

Could you see yourself doing some crossover records, and if so, with whom? Rick Ross, Drake, Nas, Future, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Money Man, Kodak Black, Xxxtentacion, Young Dolph, Migos, Travis Scott, Wyclef Lucci and MadeinTYO.

Aside from yourself, who are some of your favorite artists out, right now? Future, Money Man, Young Dolph, Lucci, Dave East.

Florida has a history of producing legends, how will you cement your legacy alongside them? Voodoo lol1804 🇭🇹… No but being in North Miami around my OGs made me woke, as a Haitian, and has given me a mastermind from listening to my elders like Rick Ross & Khaled in the industry coming out of Florida made anything possible in my eyes. I always put God first and above all I was born Catholic. That is why God is after Zulu. I want the world to know there’s a God, not me or whoever they worship, besides the one above all. Just open a Bible and see. 666 The number of the beast. No one is born with sauce you have to acquire it.
