Anthony Davis scores his first points of 2022
All season, the Lakers’ struggles have been the talk of the season. In 2020, the Lakers overcame the most-bizarre NBA season in history to win the title. Due to the oddities of the season, the Lakers played the NBA Finals in October. To round things out, the 2021 season began in December, giving the Lakers a two month turnaround.
Halfway through last season, the Lakers looked like favorites to repeat. At 21-7, the Lakers trailed only the Utah Jazz for the NBA’s best record. But, injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis saw the Lakers fall into the play-in. There, the Lakers defeated the Warriors, off a LeBron James buzzer-beater. From there, the Lakers earned the seventh seed, where they were dethroned by Chris Paul and Devin Booker’s Phoenix Suns.
Bringing back much of the 2020 core, the Lakers have struggled, this season. Also on the roster are Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook. But, this season saw injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, plus chemistry issues. Entering tonight’s game, against the Brooklyn Nets, the Lakers are 23-24, but currently dominating.
