Ashanti performs 2000s hits with Ja Rule on Good Morning America
Ashanti had one of the biggest debuts of all time. It is easy to forget, but Ashanti was once one of the top five biggest names in music. When Ashanti debuted, she had the top two singles on Billboard Hot 100. The other two singles were songs that she helped co-write. This is when Ashanti and Ja Rule were in firm control of the game. In addition to their hits, they also helped propel Jennifer Lopez and Fat Joe to the top of the charts.
Ashanti enjoyed much success when it came to her solo work. The songs with Ja Rule helped shift the focus into her self titled debut album. Early in 2002, Ashanti brought “Foolish” to life. Twenty years later, “Foolish” is regarded as a classic. There is value in Ashanti’s music and she sees it. Actually, Ashanti sees so much value in her debut album that she is re-recording it. For two reasons Ashanti is doing this. First, now Ashanti can own her masters. Second, Ashanti is going to re-release the album as a NFT.
Ashanti rose to the top with Ja Rule by her side. Through all of the drama, Ashanti and Ja Rule enjoyed two years of making chart topping music. After Ashanti’s explosive 2002 debut, she and Ja Rule did not collaborate in 2003. However, they made up for it in 2004, when they dropped “Wonderful,” which took them back into the top five. This morning, Ashanti performed on “Good Morning America,” promoting her re-issue, and Ja Rule came out to do the concert with her.
