Carmelo Anthony misses wide open dunk vs Heat

There was a time when the Los Angeles Lakers seemed untouchable. They were the epitome of a dynasty, but their bad moves, of the late 2000s caught up with them, following the 2010 title run. The final years of Kobe Bryant were wasted, despite them surrounding him with Dwight Howard and Steve Nash to create a “Big 3.” On paper, those Lakers should have at least returned to the Finals. Instead, they laid the groundwork for a 17-65 record, when Kobe retired.

Following that season, the Lakers began building a young core. The team began building around Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball. When LeBron James joined the Lakers, those players, and the young core were traded away. Ingram and Ball were shipped out to bring Anthony Davis in. That trade paid immediate dividends, as the Lakers won the 2020 championship. But, most of the championship supporting cast left after the title.

Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook were brought in, along with much of the 2020 core. The results have been terrible, so far. Last night, the Lakers played the Miami Heat, where they took another embarrassing home loss. During this loss, Carmelo went for the power dunk, only for it to miss, which is something he has a history of. But, this was just an indicator of how the night was going, for the LA Lakers.
