DeMar DeRozan is one of the NBA’s most slept-on superstars, but he’s the 2018 MVP, regardless of what the Raptors do

The Toronto Raptors reached 50 wins the earliest that they have in their entire franchise’s history. Right now, the Raptors are at 52 wins, and stand a good chance at winning 60 games. All of that is due to the play of DeMar DeRozan.

Because the Toronto Raptors haven’t proven themselves, in the playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers are still favorites in the playoffs. But, the NBA has to put some “respek” on DeRozan’s name. This young man has come a long way, and brought the Raptors with him.

Every year, the Raptors have gotten slightly better, and they crept up on the Eastern Conference, this season, to take the top spot. NBA critics were ready to make it all about LeBron’s Cavs and Kyrie’s Celtics, highlighting their split. But, DeMar DeRozan has been the real story, because he’s been the leader of this Raptor team.

When he was talking about the NBA’s East, Stephen A. Smith said LeBron James still decides how things will play out. No doubt, LeBron is a force and his legacy speaks for itself, both the good and the bad. This season, though, DeMar DeRozan has outplayed him and the stealthy play of the Raptors has them creeping up on the Golden State Warriors for the NBA’s second-best record.

Before the Rockets’ game, where DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry ended Houston’s 17-game winning streak, he said that James Harden is this year’s MVP. But, when NBA teams need to be playing great, DeMar DeRozan has his squad on an 11-game winning streak, five games ahead of Boston for the East’s top spot. On top of that, his team only needs five more wins to lock in the top spot.

DeMar DeRozan is humble about it, but he’s the MVP. The 2018 playoffs will show whether LeBron James is really still the beast of the East.
