DeMar DeRozan is silently becoming the best player in the NBA, but he made some noise, tonight

Watching prime DeMar DeRozan makes it almost impossible to not think of Vince Carter. Like Tracy McGrady said, “if if was a fifth,” quoting the homie, Webbie, so there’s that. But, for those who grew up watching the first Raptors’ franchise player, it brings back memories.

DeMar DeRozan is pretty much showing what Vince Carter’s potential could have been, if things didn’t end so badly. Good thing for DeRozan is that it started off badly, so up was the only direction. Nearly nine years since he was drafted, the Raptors are the East’s top team.

A lot of this has to do with the Toronto Raptors’ resolve, as Kyle Lowry could have left, last season. Many rumors had him joining the Spurs, during the offseason, but he stayed home. Also, DeMar DeRozan was rumored to be leaving, back in 2016, but he stayed.

Since then, DeMar DeRozan has quietly been making himself into the NBA’s top player. Remember, last season, early in the year, DeRozan was averaging nearly 34 points per game, ahead of Jimmy Butler and James Harden, but he was barely shooting threes. This season, DeRozan has added the three game and he’s one half of the Raptors’ powerful duo.

Watching his play, especially against Detroit, tonight, where he dropped 42 points, along with 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, he even had a clutch dunk and game-winning assist. All of the spotlight is on James Harden, and it should be, because the Houston Rockets are the NBA’s best team, hands down, DeMar DeRozan is no joke. This year could very well see the Raptors playing the Rockets in the Finals.

DeMar DeRozan is silently out-playing everyone and it’s showing for the Raptors, in the standings. But, when it comes to the Finals, Cleveland and Boston will have a say in their chances. Also, just because they won’t win 67+ games, this year, Golden State is going to make it as close to impossible, as can be, for the Rockets to get to the Finals.
