The beauty of the Wednesday Throwback is that it can take people back to older songs they forgot about and then put legends like Aretha Franklin back in the headlines. In 1998, Aretha Franklin put together her first album in seven years. A Rose Is Still A Rose is the name of the album.
The first single off the album was the title track, “A Rose Is Still A Rose,” which features Lauryn Hill in background vocals. Lauryn Hill also wrote and produced the song. This song includes a music video that stars actress, Elise Neal, Faith Evans, Amel Larrieux, and Changing Faces.
Many times, the first month of the year is the hardest for various reasons and it can really be a downer. Eighteen years ago, there was a song made just for these struggles when Aretha Franklin made “A Rose Is Still A Rose” with Lauryn Hill. Now, this song lives another life as the Wednesday Throwback for this week.
