Understand that this Wednesday Throwback is tougher business than it appears to be because there is so much music. Recently, Hip Hop Vibe finally set up the official DJ YRS Jerzy email, [email protected]. People have been using this to spam links and leave feedback.

A few weeks ago, Nas’ “If I Ruled the World” was the Wednesday Throwback and an effort was made to credit all inspirations. But, there were fans who left feedback, one pivotal person was forgotten, Kurtis Blow. The former Def Jam star is the man who inspired Nas’ variation of the record, as he sampled his medley.

In honor of Kurtis Blow and taking it way back, this Wednesday the year is 1985 and the record is the original “If I Ruled the World.” This song is taken from Kurtis Blow’s 1985 album, America. “If I Ruled the World” was a top five hit back in 1985 and the music video was very popular.
