Riding out, a few days back, this song suddenly hit the radio waves and it brought back some old memories. Back in the 1990s, the Luniz were a popular group and they are best-known for their “I Got 5 On It” single. The song was released in 1995 and included on their Operation Stackola album.
“I Got 5 On It” ended up becoming one of the biggest singles of 1995. Everybody really “about that life” knows what “5 on it” really means and Michael Marshall set the tone for the song with its hook. In the end, the “I Got 5 On It” instrumental made its way onto a few other popular singles.
Today, the focus is on Luniz and their “I Got 5 On It” single. The song was a classic and the big homie, Yukmouth, is still going strong today. Eleven years ago, Luniz ended their run and both Yukmouth and Numskull are still doing their thing. Wednesday Throwback is back in time for the summer run and it kicks off with this.
