By no means was/is Master P a lyrical rapper, but he always had a way of getting his point across. A lot of people, especially anybody on the grind, knows exactly what P meant with “Mr. Ice Cream Man.” This is the title track off his album of the same name and it launched Master P and New Orleans hip hop to the mainstream.
Listen to the lyrics, “before you jump in the game, let’s get one thing understood, when you’re selling that ice cream, you gots to make sure it’s good.” Always deliver the best product possible to the consumer. Master P did this in the 1990s and he has a net worth close to $500 million as a result of it.
One of the originators of the Southern hip hop scene and the start of the transition to the South, Master P got it in. Teaching rappers how to hustle, Master P led the shift of hip hop into the conglomerate it is today. A lot of it started with “Mr. Ice Cream Man,” a hip hop classic.
