DJ YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Mystikal – “Shake It Fast”

Back in 2000, the South truly began their full lock on the rap game, after being in the background before that. Respect goes to all others, but Mystikal made himself the king of the South from 2000 through 2002. Prior to this, Mystikal had some mainstream success, but was primarily only popular on a regional level.
In 2000, Mystikal teamed up with Pharrell for his Let’s Get Ready album. The first single was “Shake Ya Azz,” but it was censored to be “Shake It Fast” and it helped solidify Mystikal as an artist. This single began Mystikal’s run that lasted through the early 2000s.
Unfortunately, legal issues prematurely took Mystikal out of the game for ten years and he never fully recovered. However, this doesn’t take away from how entertaining he was and still is. This week, the Wednesday Throwback is Mystikal with his first breakout hit, “Shake It Fast.”
