Late start this morning, but it’s all good, everything’s a go now. It’s Wednesday and by now everybody knows what that means. Thinking back to hip hop from years ago, especially growing up in New Jersey in the 1990s means thinking about some classic music from Nas.
A lot of critics look down on It Was Written, let them hate because this album is a classic, especially with records like “If I Ruled the World.” Truth be told, a lot of people never even heard of Nas until he dropped It Was Written in 1996. His signature single for the first half of his career was “If I Ruled the World” with Lauryn Hill.
“If I Ruled the World” is a song that should resonate with anybody out there who has a dream, even those who don’t. Deep down, everybody dreams of being “the man,” that head person in charge. Nas had that dream and he showed the world what it would be like if he ruled the world.
