Wonder why everybody is so eager for Andre 3000 and Big Boi to reunite? It is tracks like the single off their 1998 album, Aquemini. The album title was a blend of their Zodiac signs, Aquarius and Gemini. During the early spring of 1998, Outkast released “Rosa Parks” and it continues to be a much-played track.
Daily on most radio stations, “Rosa Parks” plays during the noon hour. A hip hop song with a hidden message, Outkast named the song after the deceased Civil Rights legend, Rosa Parks. Of course, everyone knows the story of Rosa Parks refusing to move to the back of the bus after a long day of work.
Rosa Parks would file a lawsuit against Outkast for using her name as the song title and the track included foul language. The lawsuit was filed in 1999 and was settled in 2005, unfortunately this would be the same year Rosa Parks passed away. But, this Wednesday, the choice was made to reflect on the good old days with Outkast’s “Rosa Parks.”
