Rest in peace to the legend, Jam Master Jay, first and foremost. No matter how many years go by, hip hop still has love for him. Jam Master Jay, along with the rest of Run-DMC, is a legend. What helped to build their legacy was their ground-breaking music. In 1986, the group released their third album, Raising Hell.

Run-DMC decided to do something different on their third album. Fans of the legendary rock group, Aerosmith, Run-DMC decided to remake their 1976 single, “Walk this Way.” It came ten years later, but Steven Tyler and Joe Perry contributed to the song. Had it not been for Rick Rubin, this groundbreaking track would have never come.

Had it not been for the Run-DMC version of “Walk this Way,” LL Cool J and the other following rappers probably would have not enjoyed the mainstream success they did. In the end, Raising Hell was regarded as a classic and went triple platinum. Run-DMC was officially legendary and “Walk this Way” is one of the best hip hop tracks, ever.
