Out of all the classic Death Row songs, “Gin and Juice” from Snoop Dogg, who was then known as Snoop Doggy Dogg is the favorite one. This classic hip hop song was composed by Dr. Dre and David Ruffin, Jr., sampling George McCrae. “Gin and Juice” was the second single off Snoop Doggy Dogg’s Doggystyle debut.
The early 1990s is considered the golden era of hip hop because of the wide range of music that came out. In addition to the boom bap era going on in New York City, there was Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre doing G-Funk out in Los Angeles. “Gin and Juice” marks the height of the G-Funk era and showed Dr. Dre’s value.
Already a classic single, the “Gin and Juice” music video is a classic. Not only is the music video funny as ever with Snoop getting the house from his parents, but there is a young Bow Wow in the music video. Thinking back to some of the biggest hits of the past, “Gin and Juice” comes to mind.
