Donovan Mitchell calls timeout when the Jazz have none left
Entering the season, the Clippers and Jazz were the teams to watch out for, in the West. These past few seasons, the Utah Jazz have been an emerging team. Led by Donovan Mitchell, it seemed like only a matter of time before they took the West. Last year was a prime opportunity for Utah, as the Warriors were out of commission, and the Lakers stumbled. Instead, the Jazz were upset by the Clippers in the second round.
Ultimately, the Phoenix Suns took the crown in the 2021 Western Conference. Conventional wisdom said the Lakers, Clippers, and Jazz would be back in 2022, though. Instead, the Suns have taken over the NBA, the Memphis Grizzlies have taken a huge jump, and the Warriors are back in the mix. Through most of the season, the Jazz have held the fourth seed, but the Mavericks have since taken that. The Jazz are now barely holding onto fifth, as the Denver Nuggets are coming.
Last night, the Utah Jazz got their rematch with the Los Angeles Clippers. Dominating for most of the game, the Clippers made a strong comeback. Paul George led the rally and closed the Utah Jazz out, down the stretch. Of course, Donovan Mitchell made a late game mental error that cost the Jazz the key win. At the end of the game, Donovan Mitchell called for a timeout. The only problem is the Jazz didn’t have a timeout left, which gave possession back to the Clippers.
