Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg – “Still D.R.E.” [VIDEO]

Dr Dre took over mainstream media with Still DRE 23 years later

Nobody is questioning Dr. Dre’s position in the game, today. However, this wasn’t always the case, as Dre had a period of struggle, following his exit from Death Row. It wasn’t until Dre found success in his later years that he received the credit for all he’s done. By 2022, it’s widely accepted that Dr Dre was instrumental in Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, Game, and Kendrick Lamar rising to the heights they’ve reached.

However, in 1996, when Dr Dre left Death Row, he didn’t find immediate success. He released the Aftermath compilation album, and it was a commercial and critical failure. Following this, Dr Dre worked on a collaboration with LL Cool J that missed the mark. Then, Dre united hip hop’s supergroup, The Firm, consisting of Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown, Cormega, and Nature. That situation was viewed as an iconic hip hop moment and it also failed. Dr Dre then signed Eminem and the rest is history.

During that span of time, Dr Dre linked with Jay-Z and they created “Still D.R.E.,” featuring Snoop Dogg. The song was a banger, is considered a classic, and was a hit on the rap charts. But, Dr Dre performed a bit of it, during the Super Bowl halftime show, and it drove the crowd wild, along with the internet. This led to “Still D.R.E.” returning to Billboard Hot 100 and reaching a new peak of 23. The song is currently on the charts, now becoming the biggest hit of Dre’s career, and over 1 billion views on YouTube.
