Early in the season, the Golden State Warriors looked like they were retaking the NBA throne. That 25-6 start placed the Warriors on top of the league. Right beside them was the Phoenix Suns and, during that stretch, Golden State beat them twice. After that point, the Warriors have played like a .500 team. The Warriors went from the NBA’s best record to giving up the top spot to the Suns. Later, the Warriors dropped to third, as the Grizzlies took second. Dallas briefly overtook Golden State for third.

With Stephen Curry out, the Warriors are still not at full strength. Klay Thompson came back and Draymond Green went out. During that stretch, the Warriors went on the nine game winning streak. After that, the Warriors struggled. The Golden State Warriors looked like the 2015 team, at one point, but began losing games they never used to lose. However, many critics still said the Warriors were favorites to win the title. At full strength, they said the Warriors were the NBA’s best team.

Tonight, the Warriors are playing the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors and Kings are franchises headed in opposite directions. In the early 2000s, the Kings were one of the NBA’s best teams, having not missed the playoffs since 1998, until 2007. Since then, the Kings have had the longest playoff drought. That distinction belonged to the Warriors, until they made the 2007 playoffs. Playing the Kings is typically an easy win, and Draymond Green threw elbows with his team up big.
