Dwyane Wade lob to LeBron James brings back Miami Heat memories
It’s hard to imagine the NBA without Dwyane Wade. Last year, he returned to the Miami Heat, and was big in their playoff run. When he returned, for this season, Wade announced it would be his final year. As he is playing his final season, he is going on his Kobe Bryant run. Bryant retired in 2016, ending his career with a 60 point game.
Behind Bryant, and Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade is considered the third-best shooting guard of all-time. In his third season, Wade led the Miami Heat to their first-ever NBA championship. At the time, Wade was regarded as the NBA’s best player. However, the Heat faced immediate struggles, following their title run, which included having the league’s worst record.
Dwyane Wade played through the adversity, leading the NBA in scoring in 2009. In the 2009 and 2010 playoffs, he made the Heat relevant, again, but couldn’t lead them past the first round. During the 2010 offseason, Wade was joined by LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Together, they formed a Big 3 that ended the Boston Celtics’ run.
Specifically, Wade and LeBron formed a duo that was the core of two additional Heat championships. In this run, they made four NBA Finals, and had countless highlights. LeBron left Miami in 2014 and Wade left in 2016. Briefly, in 2017, they reunited on the Cleveland Cavaliers, before Wade was traded back to Miami, last season.
At the 2019 NBA All-Star Game, Wade and LeBron played as teammates, for the final time. Wade lifted a lob to LeBron reminiscent of those old Miami Heat days.
