How does it feel to see NYC hip hop finally getting props for being a vibrant hip hop scene, again, instead of hearing those annoying “why did NY hip hop fall off?” questions?
When music evolves and everyone is able to contribute to it, its good for the culture. Music is universal, so I’m happy to see other cities being recognized for their work. I never thought NY hip hop fell off. We’re living in a different era, things change and you have to be able to adapt.
With that being said, NYC is now filled with tons of stars that are making noise, how do you stand out among them?
Being consistent and having a high quality product I think will cut through all the noise.
You listed some all-time greats as your inspiration, but most up-and-coming rappers name those guys, what is it about them that drew you into their music?
I appreciate music that is based off real life experiences. These artist give you something real and raw, you can feel it. It’s not fabricated. I can relate most to transparency, artist that show this are the most inspiring to me.
What type of impact do you believe you will have on the next generation of emcees, who may come up in the “Frank Vanegas era” ?
I believe my purpose is to Inspire, motivate and educate. To speak from my experiences, so the next young man doesn’t have to go through a tough time.
Now, “Rubix Cube” is your first-ever single, correct? What led you to create this song?
I wanted to show versatility in my music. By having high tempo beat with some Spanish in it, I thought it would be fun.
Can you tell the people more about your multi-cultural upbringing in Queens, NY?
I grew up in Queens, one of the most diverse places in the world. I loved being able to experience different cultures and food. I’m glad I had contact and exposure to different things growing up. Some people are not able to experience living among different nationalities.
Next up from you is “No Birthdays,” do you believe this song will be the one that will blow up for you?
This song means the most to me. It has a great message. I believe this song can influence and affect someone out there.
When is your debut project coming?
Still haven’t decided a date. I will update everyone when I know for sure.
