It’s no secret that New York City has struggled to find a consistent rapper to hold the city down. The hip hop world was spoiled during the era when Jay Z and Nas battled for the top spot. Meanwhile, the likes of Erick Sermon, Ja Rule, Method Man, and DMX also provided hits.
The passing of the torch wound up down South, while the bigger rappers from NYC remained local. Because of this, there are legions of rising rappers bent on “bringing New York back.” In this mix is Jay Mula, a young man who is doing his own thing.
While Jay Mula is putting on for himself and his crew, people are taking notice. This week saw Jay Mula drop the “From The Block” music video and it’s gotten decent feedback. With the week over and the weekend in full swing, “From The Block” is the On The Rise Video of the Week for this week.
