Hip Hop Vibe’s Rookie of the Year 2014: YG

No, YG is no newcomer to the game, but he only released his debut album in 2014. Not only did YG release his long-awaited album, My Krazy Life, in 2014, he also released his film, Blame It On The Streets. Overall, the year of 2014 was a strong debut year for the Los Angeles emcee.

YG carried the success of “My Hitta” into 2014, but went on to have more success with “Who Do You Love?,” featuring Drake. His second single became one of the first summer hits of the year. The chemistry YG shares with DJ Mustard is undeniable and the world got the chance to see it.

Since 2014 is the year YG released his debut album, he was Hip Hop Vibe’s frontrunner for Rookie of the Year. There were a few other debuts, but none came close to YG, as he managed to dominate on every spectrum. As the year is coming to a close, YG and his fans will definitely remember it for his run.
