Ja Morant humiliates Malik Beasley with poster dunk

Ja Morant had the biggest night of his career, last night. While TNT played around with Ja Morant’s dad and Usher, he won the Most Improved Player Award. Despite Ja Morant being appreciative, he gifted the award to Desmond Bane, his teammate. All of the work Ja Morant is putting in is for him to win MVP, instead of MIP. Make no mistake, Ja Morant has played an MVP-caliber season, this year, leading the Memphis Grizzlies to the NBA’s second best record.

Ja Morant is still only a third year player, however. Led by Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies are a young team with veteran role players. Every year Ja Morant has played for the Grizzlies, the team has improved their win total. In his rookie year, Ja Morant nearly led Memphis to the playoffs, as he won Rookie of the Year. Last year, Ja Morant led the Grizzlies to the play-in, beating the Spurs and Warriors. When Ja Morant made his playoff debut, he got a Game 1 win over the Jazz, before losing the next four games.

Ja Morant and the Grizzlies entered the 2022 NBA Playoffs as contenders. Only the Phoenix Suns posted a better record. Still, Ja Morant took a Game 1 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Through the series, Ja Morant has been tortured by Patrick Beverley. Last night, Ja Morant seemed to have gotten past that, leading the Grizzlies to another comeback win. The highlight of the comeback was Ja Morant dunking on Malik Beasley.
