Last year, Nikola Jokic won the MVP award, and this year, Joel Embiid is making his case for the award. In a lot of ways, the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers are comparable. Both franchises saw their struggles end after a six year playoff drought, breaking through with major playoff appearances. The Nuggets and Sixers both made the second round.

Regardless, both teams built solid cores, and came into the 2022 season looking to take the next step, only to be in for a surprise. Out West, the Suns, Warriors, and Grizzlies altered the entire landscape. This put pressure on the Jazz, meanwhile the Mavericks took a major step forward. While the Nuggets have since turned it on, they’re not likely to get higher than the fifth seed. For the Sixers, things are not as grim, despite having to trade Ben Simmons for James Harden.

In the East, the Sixers got off to a slow start, while the Heat, Bulls, Nets, and Bucks dominated the top of the East. Thankfully, the Nets collapsed, which led to the already-hot Sixers landing James Harden. The implosion of the Nets was met by the Sixers’ rise. Also, there were the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers getting hot. After a quick start, the Sixers have struggled, as have the Cavs. Last night, ESPN had the Nuggets/Sixers game.

James Harden went up for a layup, but Aaron Gordon prevented that from happening. Knocking him to the ground, Harden was upset when there was a no call from the refs. Along with Harden being upset, the crowd booed the refs.
