James Wiseman shows the Warriors he is ready to play

James Wiseman was one of the top draft prospects of the 2020 draft class. As a result of the Golden State Warriors’ injury riddled 2019-2020 season, they had the NBA’s worst record. NBA followers know this is atypical of the Warriors, who seem to reach the Finals every year. The Warriors previously had the best record in the NBA in three of the previous five seasons. During the 2016 season, the Warriors even had the NBA’s best regular season record of all-time.

James Wiseman entered college expecting to be the first overall pick. However, James Wiseman went through a shoulder injury, before his lone year of college slowed him down, just a bit. Still, Wiseman was good enough that he was still expected to be a top two pick. When the Golden State Warriors bottomed out, James Wiseman was expected to fall to them. After obtaining the number two pick, the Warriors drafted Wiseman.

James Wiseman played well, during his rookie year, but injuries slowed him down. During Wiseman’s first game, he scored 19 points. After his injury, James Wiseman played for the Warriors’ NBA G League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors. However, setbacks to Wiseman’s rehab have stopped him from being in the league, playing. Despite that, James Wiseman won a championship ring, as the Warriors beat the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals. Last night, Wiseman dominated the Spurs’ Summer League team for a win.
