Winning has become a way of life for Jay-Z, as he has done everything imaginable to be a young street kid for Brooklyn. Often cryptic and symbolic in his raps, Jay-Z lives his life the same way, making everything tie into something different. This has been the case for Jay-Z’s illustrious career, releasing eleven albums, each garnering critical acclaim and branching out into business.

Nine years ago, Jay-Z did the unthinkable when he bought into the New Jersey Nets. As a minority owner of the team, Jay-Z made plans to relocate the team to Brooklyn. During the 1950s and early 1960s, Brooklyn was home to several professional sports teams, which would eventually relocate. A lifelong dream for Jay-Z was for Brooklyn to have their own NBA franchise.

For over six years, Jay-Z has had plans of relocating his team to his hometown. Sports critics have been very vocal, saying the team would have to battle the New York Knicks for fans. None of this has gotten to Jay-Z, who is popular among the other owners of the team. Already under the shadow of the established Knicks, the Nets needed a drastic overhaul.

Coming with the relocation of the Nets to Brooklyn is an overhaul of the roster, which has been a consistent loser since 2008. After much discussion, next month the Brooklyn Nets will finally launch. The construction of Barclays Center has finally been completed and Jay-Z held a show in typical Hova fashion to celebrate. Among the guests at Barclays Center were Rihanna, J. Cole, Big Daddy Kane, and other big names to help break in the arena. During Jay-Z’s show, he even performed some new lyrics.
