Jayson Tatum wins the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP award

Jayson Tatum made an immediate impact his rookie year. During the 2018 playoffs, the Celtics were without both of their superstar additions. In the first round of the playoffs, Giannis and the Bucks almost knocked the second seed Celtics out. As a result, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown stepped up. Their efforts almost led them to the NBA Finals, as a rookie and second year pro.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had to take steps back when the stars returned. Unfortunately, the Celtics also took a step back, only going 49-33, and losing to the Bucks. A complicated 2020 season saw Tatum and Brown still playing secondary roles, but returning to the Eastern Conference Finals. After losing to the Miami Heat in 2020, they were swept by the Nets in last year’s first round.

Jayson Tatum had a lot to go up against in the 2022 playoffs. Facing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Tatum had to elevate to beat the Nets. The final result was a sweep. In the second round, Tatum had to contend with the defending champion Bucks. This series ended with a blowout Celtics’ Game 7 win. Finally came the Miami Heat, where Tatum’s Cs squeezed out a Game 7 victory. As a result, Tatum won series MVP.
