Jimmy Butler closes out the Hawks to win Game 2

Jimmy Butler signed with the Miami Heat in 2019 and completely changed the culture. Butler’s first season with the Heat was turbulent. Due to outside forces, the Miami Heat had to pause midseason. The midseason pause may have benefited the Heat more than any other team. When play resumed, the Miami Heat got hot. Holding the fifth seed, Jimmy Butler’s Heat ended up cruising through the first two rounds of the playoffs, upsetting Giannis’ Bucks.

Jimmy Butler led the Miami Heat to an unexpected NBA Finals appearance. This came a year after the Heat missed the playoffs entirely. Had Dwyane Wade played just one more year, he would have made his sixth NBA Finals and faced LeBron James. The Cinderella run for the Heat ended, when they lost to the Lakers. However, those who expected the Lakers to run away with the series were surprised with the Miami Heat turning it into a competitive six game series.

Jimmy Butler and the Heat returned to the playoffs, where they were swept by the Bucks. After a rough start, the Heat regrouped and claimed the East’s top seed. A year after their own surprise Conference Finals run, the Atlanta Hawks fell into the play-in. Trae Young has played insane ball, though, leading the Hawks past the Hornets and Cavs to earn the eighth seed. It looked like Trae Young would also lead a Game 2 upset, but Jimmy Butler made sure that didn’t happen.
