Joel Embiid hits game winner vs Chicago Bulls and celebrates

Joel Embiid was a key part of the Philadelphia 76ers’ rebuilding, which was called “The Process.” During those years, the Sixers put bad teams on the floor, in order to stack draft picks. As a result, they landed the fourth pick of the 2014 draft, which became Joel Embiid. However, injuries delayed Embiid’s rookie season until 2016. Their poor record, in between time, resulted in the top pick in 2016, which became Ben Simmons. After a 1-4 start, to the 2017-2018 season, the Sixers won 52 games, and made the playoffs, where they lost to the Boston Celtics.

Joel Embiid initially was not considered the Philadelphia 76ers’ leading franchise player. Instead, that honor belonged to Ben Simmons. Some hailed Simmons as the second coming of LeBron James. However, there was the issue of Simmons’ apparent refusal to take a three point shot. Eventually, this and other things, resulted in Ben Simmons being traded to the Brooklyn Nets for James Harden. Last season, the duo of Embiid and Harden underwhelmed. As a result, they lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Miami Heat.

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have struggled to start this season. The Sixers limped to a 1-4 start to the season. However, the Sixers won their previous game, which led to an improvement to 2-4. Last night, the Sixers took on the Bulls in Chicago. Down the stretch, the Bulls and the Sixers had a close game. In the end, the game came down to one last shot. It was Embiid who came through in the clutch, with the game winning three point shot. Embiid’s celebration was epic.
