Klay Thompson hits a dagger 3 and Kyrie responds with a clutch 3 | Nets at Warriors [VIDEO]

Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving get into clutch shootout

Few NBA players have the kind of history that Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving have had. Respectively, they were the second-best players on the best two teams in the NBA. Every year, for three consecutive years, Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving played in the NBA Finals. Klay Thompson won the 2015 and 2017 championships. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving hit the game-winning shot in the Cavs’ 2016 upset of the Warriors.

Klay Thompson missed the 2020 and 2021 seasons, after getting injured in the 2019 NBA Finals. Most believe the Warriors would have won Game 6, had Klay not gotten injured. After Klay went down, Steph Curry got injured and missed the bulk of the 2020 season. The Warriors dominated from 2014-2019, but finished with the NBA’s worst record in 2020. Last season, Steph Curry got the Warriors into the play-in, without Klay Thompson.

Even without Klay Thompson, the Warriors held the NBA’s best record for most of this year. As of late, the Warriors have struggled, but are back winning. Last night, Klay’s Warriors played Kyrie Irving’s Nets, in their highest-profile game since Game 7 of the 2016 Finals. It lived up to the hype, as Klay and Kyrie got into a shootout. A clutch Klay three gave Golden State a decent lead, Kyrie’s clutch three cut it to one, but the Warriors held on for the win over Brooklyn.
